Dejan Ivanovich


Croatian guitarist Dejan Ivanović was born in Tuzla (BiH) in 1976. He studied with P. Stanković, V. Ivanović, and D. Petrinjak.

He was orientated by Ch. Bochmann during the Doctorate Study at the Évora University (2011/14).

In 1998 he was honored as an Artist in Residence at the prestigious Spoleto Music Festival (Italy), personally invited by maestro G.C. Menotti. Dejan is the 1st prize winner of the following Guitar Competitions: Doña Infanta Cristina (Spain), Sinaia (Romania), Andrés Segovia, Francisco Tárrega (Spain) and Arhanes (Greece). He was also a laureate at the competitions in Rome (Italy), Sernancelhe (Portugal) and Charleroi (Belgium).

He collaborates regularly with orchestras in Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, Serbia and Portugal. In 2017, he participated as a soloist at the Portuguese national premiére of Concierto Mudejar by A. Garcia Abril. His recitals on five continents have received a strong acceptance by both the general public and the music critics.

His solo discography is made of CD Recital (NAXOS, 2002), Mediterraneo (2001) and Dedicatórias Vol I: Música Contemporânea Portuguesa para Guitarra (2018). In 2013, he recorded the piece Em Memória da Madrugada by M. Pikoul with Orquestra Clássica do Centro, conducted by D.W. Lloyd.

Since 2004, Dejan is a member of Guitar Duo Kontaxakis- Ivanovich. Their first CD was launched by KSG EXAUDIO record label (Germany, 2010).

In 2005 he founded the International Festival Guitarmania in Lisbon (Portugal). He is the guitar professor at the Évora University Music Department since 2007. He successfully defended his Doctorate thesis in Music Interpretation in March 2015.
