Aniello Desiderio, Dejan Ivanovich, Mateusz Kowalski and Bruno Pino Mateos are some of the names for FIGG 2019 program.
“Cidade de Guimarães” International Guitar Competition is one of the most important events of this festival. Every year about 100 national and international guitarists take part in this competition. It is open to all ages and nationalities.
The competition is divided into 7 categories and is open to all ages and nationalities. As a curiosity, the winner of the no age limit category (G) will automatically have access to the Eurostrings Exchange Program, where he will have the opportunity to tour the various Platform Festivals as well as participate in the “Eurostrings Winners Competition”, with a grand prize of 8000 euros, plus a tour of the United States of America, Europe and China.
Meet famous researchers in various fields of knowledge.
Contact with other areas of knowledge is critical to the formation of young artists. Musicology, Psychology, Neuroscience and Technology, are some of the topics covered in recent editions of this festival.
We want to diversify our audience by reaching youngsters without musical education coming from socially disadvantaged areas and minored communities and to deepen the relationship with our current youth audience.
Figg has, at the expense of its diversified program and in line with the cultural values of the European Union, taken its place in the international guitar industry. We are proud to be part of the first European guitar platform that brings together 17 international classical guitar festivals
This platform creates a hub of international opportunities for emerging guitar players from Europe and beyond, educational and training programs that foster their professional development, supporting the trends for sustainability of festivals in the field of classical music.

To affirm our festival, through sustainable growth and the offer of a program of excellence, as one of the great festivals of the international guitar scene.
Promote music and the guitar through research, education, and excellence in performance.
Guimarães, land of the first King and symbol of Portuguese identity, stands out for its internationally recognized cultural positioning, which led to the classification of its historic center as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2001 and later to be awarded the title of European Capital of Culture in 2012.
Guimarães has a high level of cultural infrastructures. Auditoriums of cultural spaces such as “Centro Cultural Vila Flor” or “Plataforma das Artes e Criatividade”, or even historical monuments with excellent acoustic conditions for this instrument, such as the “Paço dos Duques de Bragança”, “Convento de Santo António dos Capuchos”, among others, make the experience of listening to classical guitar an unforgettable moment.
